Maganefuku kibi no nakayama tai ni seru hoso tanikawa no oto no sayakesa

Roughly translated: “The tatara form an obi on Nakayama of Kibi (The old name for what is now Bizen, Bitchu, and Bingo), the clarity of the sound of the rivers in the narrow valleys.

The kuni of Bizen has been famous since ancient times as an iron producing region. The toko group of Bitchu flourished in Aoe, in the downstream region of the Takahashi River, and in the works of the Ko-Aoe from the end of the Heian period to the middle of the Kamakura period, none of them have a nenki, but among the Aoe kaji of the late Kamakura period, the nenki of SHOWA (1312-1317), BUNPO (1317-1319), KARYAKU (1326-1329), GENTOKU (1329-1331), GENKO (1331-1334), and KENMU (1334-1336) can be seen.

This katana has been judged to be a work of Aoe dating from the late Kamakura period to the beginning of the Nanbokucho period. It is a piece in which ko-choji and ko-gunome are mixed in a ko-nie deki of a suguba tone. There is abundant ashi and yo inserted, sunagashi and kinsuji have been applied, and the activity in the ha is rich. The mune is ko-maru, but this is also a construction that is sometimes seen in Aoe.
